As we reflect on the year that was, Linsey and I are filled with gratitude and pride for the accomplishments we've achieved with our small business, The Fellowship of Ravens, in 2024. This year has been a remarkable journey, filled with creativity, collaboration, and community engagement. We’d like to take this opportunity to share some of the highlights from our year.
1. Banners Along the Harbour Front
One of the most exciting developments this year was the installation of three banners along the harbour front in collaboration with the Urban Easel. Each banner showcased stunning photographs from our project "A Soldier's Letter." Seeing our work displayed in such a beautiful public space was an incredible honour. It not only brought our art to a wider audience but also sparked conversations about the themes of remembrance and reflection that our work embodies.
2. Participation in the Owen Sound Artists Tour
We were thrilled to take part in the Owen Sound Artists Tour, which provided us with a fantastic platform to connect with fellow artists and art enthusiasts. This event allowed us to share our creative process, and discuss our inspirations. The positive feedback and enthusiasm from attendees were truly invigorating, reminding us of the power of community in the arts.
3. Owen Sound Library Author Book Fair
Another significant milestone for us was participating in the Owen Sound Library's Author's Book Fair. This event was a wonderful opportunity to share our written work with the community. Engaging with readers and fellow authors was a delight, and it reinforced our passion for storytelling through both visual and literary art.
4. A Strength of His Heart at the Grey Gallery
We were honoured to have our piece, "A Strength of His Heart," in the Grey Gallery. This piece holds a special significance for us, and it was gratifying to see it displayed among the works of other talented artists. The gallery's commitment to showcasing local talent is something we deeply appreciate, and we are proud to contribute to the artistic landscape of our community.
5. Remembrance Display for Heritage Mall
Creating the Remembrance display for Heritage Mall was one of our most meaningful projects this year. We designed, created, and built a tribute that honours the sacrifices made by Veterans and their families. The community's response was heartwarming, and we felt privileged to contribute to a project that resonates so deeply with many.
6. Poetry Reading of A Soldier's Letter at The Gathering Table
We were also excited to hold a poetry reading of "A Soldier's Letter" at The Gathering Table. Sharing our poetry in a supportive and intimate setting allowed us to connect with others on a profound level. The conversations that emerged from this event highlighted the importance of storytelling and the impact of words in bringing people together.
7. Joining the Fundraising Committee at Billy Bishop Museum
Lastly, we are proud to announce that we joined the fundraising committee at the Billy Bishop Museum. This opportunity allows us to support the preservation of history and culture within our community. We look forward to collaborating with others to create engaging fundraising initiatives that will benefit the museum and its mission.
Looking Forward
As we close the chapter on 2024, we are filled with excitement for what lies ahead. Each accomplishment has strengthened our connection to our community and fuelled our passion for art and storytelling. We want to extend our heartfelt thanks to everyone who has supported us along this journey. Here’s to more creativity, collaboration, and inspiration in 2025!
With warmth and appreciation,
Jana and Linsey
